Little Touches, Big Impact: 1930s Bookcase

French art deco bookcase circa 1930

The art deco era was known for its use of natural materials such as wood and marble to compliment areas of intense colouring such as tiles or paint, so I’m guessing this bookcase table would have fitted perfectly in a 1930s salon.

With a Porto marble top and a highly figured walnut veneer, the bookcase features eight compartments, two on each side, for book storage. It’s available to purchase from Travers Antiques.

All the bookcase needs now is perhaps some novels of the time to accompany it. Perhaps [amazon asin=0141184388&text=Down and Out in Paris and London&chan=default]  by Orwell or one of my favourites Christie’s [amazon asin=B0046H95PO&text=Murder on the Orient Express&chan=default]
